"One law enforcement source said the Justice Department notified a media organization almost three years ago of a subpoena for detailed telephone records, and a second told CNN that organization was Fox News."
With that little of detail on their source, I'm calling BS on the whole thing for now. Is their source lying? We've seen plenty of that lately from the DOJ. And while it's interesting and all, I'm disappointed in CNN for essentially trying to change the subject and turn the whole thing against FOX. In doing so, they're looking like the brave defenders of the Democratic Party and not a legit news organization.
It's possible that FOX knew something or something was hinted at by somebody from the Justice Department. But at the end of the day, who cares?? If a woman strongly suspects or even knows for certain that she's being stalked, that does not make her guilty of anything. The real story and the real guilt still rests with the stalker. CNN is acting a lot like the judge who ruled against a woman that was raped "because she was asking for it." Focus on the crime and stop criminalizing the victim please.
FOX might be biased like crazy, but the bigger issue here is freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Even if FOX were a media outlet for The Arian Nation, targeting an harassing their reporters would be a dangerous precedent to ignore. CNN and every other news organization needs to focus on the bigger issue here before they find their own people targeted too.
The Justice Department notified the parent company of Fox News more than two years ago about its seizure of phone records belonging to one of its reporters, a Fox official said Saturday.
The parent company, News Corp didn't tell Fox about the notification, the Fox official said.
Fox has been open about this. They have clearly stated from the beginning when this happened.
So whatever the point is supposed to be, it's a FAIL.
Well the WSJ, owned by the same company (News Corp) who owns FOX, has basically confirmed this, and in fact that it was the parent company that messed up, not the DOJ.
Why would Fox News be reluctant to comment on this? Everybody on that channel was heated about Rosen being investigated last week.
Why on earth should Fox report to CNN?
And their outrage has to do with Holder saying he didn't know anything about it and now they've found he signed off on it.
It would help if people making silly comments would get the facts and the timeline straight.
