Well, one of my late close relatives actually lived under both fascism and communism, and the US is trending closer to Mussolini type fascism than communism.

But the Washington, D.C. area has been affluent and recession-resistant for a long time, so what is anyone going to do about that? I'd rather make my money in this area than complain about it.
As long as you get yours its all good!

So, what damage are you talking about, again?

The money had to be taken from someone else first before it could be spent in southeast WA.

It has zero net effect on the economy. You took from one to give to another. Even Steven.

America as a nation is completely dependent on government spending and that is a good thing (apparently).

So far America (and possibly, the world) feels that the Washington, D.C. area can thank a permanent stream of taxpayer money for its good fortune and not any special ability of its residents to create value for the nation.

85% of people feel this way.

If you want to forget what a recession feels like then move to the D.C. area.

Oh really?

Again, prove that concentrated Federal spending doesn't help local economies. After all, i live in a red city in a red county that lies within a red state....no one around here is begging the Federal government to pull back from their spending here.

So there's no "free market" where you live simply because some of your tax dollars end up in places like Killeen, Texas (Ft. Hood) or Fayetteville, North Carolina (Ft. Bragg)?

Yeah, but who mucked the whole place up to begin with?

I'm glad clb10 and VtHokiefan keep their complaints here instead of in the DC forum.
