she is to be commended over and over. I will add, a lot of kids today, take college level classes in their Jr year and enter college with several university credits. Our own granddaughter did, but not as a Jr.. There was a family on TV a few days ago, who home taught their kids and some are through college by 18 years old. What she has accomplished is amazing and wonderful, but she certainly is nowhere the first or the last to do it. I will say, it shows, where there is a will there is a way and this shows there is no excuse for those living in poverty to remain in poverty.
comparative poorness is moronic, and having a cell phone doesnt mean you "dont have it all that bad". You can get a phone for 30 dollars and pay for 20 dollars worth of minutes (which can be applied to the internet service).
People who say stuff like that should spend a month living as a poor person and see how quickly their argument changes.
Not to mention determination. She set a goal, she was determined, got through the hardships, and succeeded.
For people to compare their children or family members having achieved the same educationally - those kids didn't have to overcome hardships in order to do it. Mom was in the kitchen cooking dinner (3rd meal of the day), their designer clothes were in the washer, their newest mobile monthly bill for $100 was paid, they sat at a desk with a laptop, and they had a nice bed to sleep in. I can only wonder if these "my kid/niece/nephew" could have achieved what they did without the comforts and were in the same position as this girl. And she chose a profession where she will be healing people.
It amazes me how people chose to overlook what she went through and minimize her situation. Most kids in her situation give up at an early age - she didn't.
That's awesome for her. I love to hear success stories! Congrats and best of luck to her
