regardless what you think, it is STILL A LAW, and still illegal...no debate...and why is this a racist problem? Good God?
There are states that are conforming to medical use, however, if it is against the law where you are, and you smoke it, yes, you are a criminal, and there is nothing racist about that what-so-ever.
I say that because race did play a part in why it was initially banned.
If Harry Anslinger were alive today, he would no doubt be in front of a Colorado House or Senate committee on regulating medical marijuana dispensaries, imploring the gathered politicians to ignore the will of the people and ban the wicked weed outright.
“There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the U.S.,” Anslinger might say, “and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others.”
Actually, Anslinger did say that, and much more. With the help of the federal government, the states, DuPont, pharmaceutical companies and the Hearst newspaper chain, Anslinger sought to keep the heartbeat of Puritanism alive. He was the assistant Prohibition commissioner and then commissioner of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics from 1930 to 1962.
"The intense anti-marijuana movement of the 1930s dovetailed nicely with the intense anti-Chicano movement of the 1930s. Marijuana was associated with Mexican Americans, and a ban on marijuana was seen as a way of discouraging Mexican-American subcultures from developing.
Today, thanks in large part to the very public popularity of marijuana among whites during the 1960s and 1970s, marijuana is no longer seen as what one might call an ethnic drug--but the groundwork for the anti-marijuana movement was laid down at a time when marijuana was seen as an encroachment on the U.S. majority-white culture."

By their logic yes. Not to mention how rude, obnoxious and beligerent people tend become when drinking some of that hard s***!!!! It's OK though. Alcohol is legal. Talk about being in the Bizzaro World for cryin' out loud!
They decriminalized marijuana here in Canada. Then the Conservatives came in and made it a crime again. Thing is, most Canadians don't see it as a crime anymore. Cops only care about street dealers and grow-ops. The guy growing a couple of plants in his basement and smokes occasionally, just isn't a criminal.
It's not a question of if but when it's going to be legalized in Canada. The Conservatives only made it a crime again because Harper didn't like going against the grain with Bush. Americans can come up here and smoke when it's legalized here.
The law says one thing here, but the police more closely reflect the will of Canadians. Marijuana users aren't criminals.
