The most "Socialist" countries in Europe are the Scandinavian nations and they are doing fine.

Scandinavia avoids the financial crisis - The National

Norway has a 3.7% unemployment rate.

There is no relationship between the welfare state and prosperous economies; some high-spending countries, notably Sweden and Denmark, have very low rates, while as Dean says, Spain was a relatively low spender.

Yes, we know austerity doesn't improve the economy and Europe is evidence to that claim.

How do you account for the fact then, that the Soviets excelled at sport, chess, military equipment, were the first in space etc., etc..

and how about China - the new emerging power

oh, that's right - it is because they are all so lazy and unskilled

You know, this is a good little tactic. Instead of saying, "Republicans", I might start referring to them as "Republicans / Baby Rapists."

I'll leave it to them to argue that Republicans shouldn't be grouped in with baby rapists.
