Are there simply more people than there are needful jobs? (Do we need assistant janitors?)

Should people willfully perform dysfunctionally to create jobs for others? (Corollary of the broken window theory of prosperity) (Unions) (Government)

Should the chemical control method of raising food crops be replaced by human labor? (Mao to defeat Monsanto?)

I'd like to know when the idea of not having to work so much became so abhorrent to people.
