Sure, it’s hard to weep for families that earn more than 98% of American households. Unlike millions of Americans, most HENRYs don’t need to worry about making the next mortgage or credit card payment. Still, Obama gave HENRYs are getting a bad and lump them in with America’s conspicuously wealthy.
More employees? LMAO..

That would require you to have SOME employees first.

Divorcing right before you plan to start getting SS is a good idea if both spouses have worked. DH and I make about the same money and therefore pay into SS in the same amount month after month. But, when we claim SS, we'll get 3/4 of the payment 2 singles would receive. Hummm... . pay in the same and get 1/4 less. Yep, it pays to divorce.

" Strategic" divorces have been happening for serious decades, now.

Lower earned -middle income couples generally benefit from the tax code.

Higher earned income couples are penalized.

The tax code favors the working poor with dependents and wealthy where most income is in the form of cap gains.

The surviving ex spouse may be required to pay Federal/ state estate taxes , dependent on the value of the estate that would otherwise be exempt if married. Always consult a tax attorney before taking drastic action.

You're right...my paycheck is little.

Which pretty much makes me one of the few honest posters on C-D when discussing personal finance. Almost everyone else here is a gazillionaire.

When their accountant told them they may have to limit their deductions because of their joint incomes as well, they asked her to run the numbers and come up with an alternative.

At their next meeting, she presented them with two options—file as a married couple and pay the piper, or divorce and file as “single.” As it turns out, George and Martha would save over $27,000 a year if they divorced. And so they did. But they’re still together, in some ways closer than ever.

Only 523,712 workers out of 150,398,796 earn $400,000. The couple isn't hurting financially.
