Rules? To me Facebook appears totally free form and almost chaotic (both the FB tool and many user's posts) ...which is why many I know also watch from afar.
Maybe it's just me, but I only see a few people who seem to freely post. For example, how many people do you see who will actually disagree with a post if they don't like it?
Who has opinions about whether or not people should post about politics, religion, or personal business on Facebook?
I personally believe that it's your page, so you post what you like, but others apparently disagree. Anyone have thoughts they are willing to share?
When I first went on Facebook, the people on there were loose cannons. It took me a while to weed out the radicals and find the folks who just wanted to socialize. The problem with the "written word" is that it is open to interpretation by a million different people who have a million different ideas as to what you are are saying. Example: At one point I had lots of nieces and nephews who were posting photos of their young kids bathing, or perhaps escaping from them mid diaper change, etc. I am and always will be totally against putting nude photos of any child on a social network such as Facebook. I said so...BIG MISTAKE. My Niece and Nephew said that I was saying on Facebook that they were posting kiddie porn...MY GOD...I never said that. Again..now, because they read my "opinion" on nude kiddie pictures and took it the absolute wrong way, I don't talk with them. Did I face off with them in person..You betcha..only they did not ever call me back. Another issue...when you do face off with the person who has wrongly accused you they know how ridiculous their accusation was and choose to hide. Another Facebook fatality. Discuss whatever you want on Facebook but know that what you say can really get twisted..kinda like when your undies get in a bundle and you can't "pick them out"...be careful!
FB seems to be about what someone had for lunch, or where they took Mollie and Ollie on vacation, or what song they like. Heavy stuff indeed...
It's an easy place for people to connect and shadow others using simple 'tech'. It lends itself to posting pictures, lightweight content and contributions. (Not that there is anything WRONG with that ) but...it is what it is...a simple place to pass time, watch others or tell people about yourself, some of whom care...and many who don't.
Some think FB is struggling for substance and slowly drifting into the sunset...hardly worth chatting about.

That is why I am not a member of facebook because it is another avenue for drama. Plus most of the crap I have read from the old birds facebook is not worth my time. If I did post on facebook I would not write about politics because the average person usually does not know squat. I come here on CD for my politics where there are informed people from both sides of the aisle. Why would I discuss politics with the facebook crowd when they are getting educated from their workplace lunch room by other morons?
I have a teenage niece who post all sorts of suggestive pictures. I just removed her from my newsfeed and bite my tongue about it when I see her Dad. She was hanging out at some nightclub where men 3 to 4 years older than her go for one reason only, still bit my tongue.
If it would have been my daughter it would have been WWIII, but I kept my nose out of their business. Sorry you had to learn the hard way. Some people are just idiots and there is no helping them.
