They don't have to be non-partisan, that isn't how a 501c3 works! Is Media Matters of America, OSI, Move ON...etc. non-partisan organizations? The IRS targeted these entities because they were conservatives (enemies of the DNC and the President) and nothing more.

McDermott is a well known liberal hack. He has no interest in fairness and legalities.

its really what happens when you have a party maded up since FDR of so many special interest groups which many of which are so willing to jusifyt the means by the end. They fear what they can not control. Central control always has that effect.
