I just want to keep repeating . . but, but . . . it's Mississippi!

I worked full time and then some. My kid is just getting ready to go to college with quite a few academic scholarships.

Then again, I would have set my hair on fire before I would have enrolled him in the public school system in Mississippi.

I was very happy when I worked and my husband stayed home. I loathed being a SAHM. It has nothing to do with how user-friendly my appliances are. The tedium, repetition and the mind-numbing cleaning, laundry and cooking were enough to send me over the edge. If someone wants to do it and enjoys it....great. It wasn't for me. I felt my brains turning into oatmeal.

It's probably just as much work, instead of things getting washed once every week or two they get washed after each use....

I already stated that my first post, it's unfortunate. young children should have a parent at home during their early years. That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

2) Test scores may be lower, but our education is actually better.
Students would be performing even better though.

LOL... my Grandmother still owns some of them.

She just got a new stove and hates it. The cost for the burners for her old one were ridiculous though. She has this awesome toaster, when the toast it done it just slowly rises out of the toaster.

Maybe not housework (though the work often expands to fill the time available; women who stay home have neater, cleaner houses than people like me), but child care is a full time 24/7 job!

That's become a chicken and egg kind of question. Part of the reason why 2 incomes are "needed" is because when women started going back to work, they had 2 incomes to spend on housing. That jacked up the price of homes as well as other goods....which created a larger and larger economic penalty for women who wanted to stay home.

Even liberal, Elizabeth Warren admitted this in her book The Two Income Trap, written a decade ago.
