here's your free clue, additional free clues are obtainable in the lobby just right of the concession stand.
some of us started life feeling compassion for the "victims" and the "underprivileged" because that's what you get brainwashed with in the school system. you are taught that the constitution is a "living document" and other ridiculous liberal babble.
once you begin to make your way under your steam to begin to understand that we are each of us responsible to carry our water.
people get what they deserve, the universe sees to that.
I've only seen that in sociology. Having been a geography major, collecting and analyzing data is very important, particularly in cartography and GIS. Looking at outliers is important as well. I just didn't think discussing social sciences was important for this discussion.
I thought it relevant due to the entire focus of social sciences and how it concerns the specific topic of this thread. A stereotype is a specific focus of social sciences.
for an example people will walk into a Wal-Mart and look around for all the rednecks and white trash folks but ignoring everyone else.
so the white trash and rednecks stand out more. even though most of the people in the store are just regular people...
Just like people will avoid big piles of turds if they know they're around.

Let me guess, you also believe in stereotyping people.
When I was young I was told never believe in racial, regional or cultural stereotypes, they were hardly ever true. I was told by my teachers that some stereotypes might have been true generations ago but now they are rarely if ever true. I believed them and rejected stereotypes until the last ten years. Then I got the travel bug and traveled overseas and all over America and now I have seen all fifty US States and 53 foreign countries. I make a real effort to learn about the places I visit and chat with as many people as I can.
I also work as a trainer and travel all over America for a large company and get a chance to observe the local culture in cities across the USA. It's been an eye opening experience.
The result of all my reading, study, interaction and travel: I fully support, believe and respect MOST regional, cultural and ethnic stereotypes. I believe they are true most of the time! (And in a minority of times they are not true)
As you get older and experience more of the world do you believe racial, regional or cultural stereotypes more, or less and why?
Please answer this for me. I've been waiting for you to answer. How do any of the stereotypes benefit those who do not fit the stereotypes? I really believe you should think about that.
This thread has gotten confusing. I don't think it makes much sense anymore. We are no longer really debating whether stereotypes are valid are not, so I am out. Have fun.

Yes, I agree. If you are a black overweight woman from a ghetto and your peers and culture fulfills every stereotype of inner city poor blacks and you want to rise above this environment and culture, people stereotyping you based on their observations of 80% of the people who come from that environment fulfilling the stereotype exactly, you are hurt. But that does not stop me from saying- in most cases- stereotypes are true.

They don't, I don't think anyone has ever argued otherwise. The world doesn't revolve around those individuals.
This doesn't make any stereotype any less generally true.
Stereotypes are never true under any circumstances. They are never true! Never!
