“About five or six weeks ago, our president made a comment in a speech and he said, ‘God bless Planned Parenthood,’” Birk told the radio station. “Planned Parenthood performs about 330,000 abortions a year. I am Catholic, I am active in the pro-life movement, and I just felt like I couldn’t deal with that."
The football star said that while he has "great respect for the office of the president," he "couldn't endorse" the president's support for the country's top abortion organization "in any way."
Mr. Jalsevac relates what Mr. Birk told the National Catholic Register:
If people were told the truth about abortion, no one would ever seek out the procedure. We hear about “choice” and “reproductive rights,” but no one is ever told by an abortionist, “I will kill your baby by ripping off its arms and legs.”
"Matt Birk isn’t afraid to speak up for the innocent. Way to go."
Never understood what the big appeal was for any athlete to visit the WH be brought out for a 10 minute photo op listening to a President mispronounce your name.
This year with the sequestration, I wonder who paid for this. I thought WH visits were stopped for the public due to costs?
There.......we got that crap out of the way. Someone had to do it. Might as well be someone who thinks the race card is nothing but a bunch of fools who don't have anything intelligent to say.

Great man to speak up for the defenseless.
Good for Matt birk. This isn't a fascist dictatorship were you have to kiss the presidents ass.

The tradition is to have a championship team appear at the WH rose garden to recieve accolades from the President...

Who cares if he is white, I remember plenty of people that would of rather cut off their own hand than having a smiling photo op next to Bush.
I respect him in taking a stand but while I may agree with the stand I would go out of respect for the office, not necessarily for the one in the office.
Besides, I would prefer to not take a chance on getting the IRS on my back.

Funny!
