You don't seem to understand that the data being collected is mixed with your entire life via site like Facebook, Google searches, etc.

So, are you ready to be prosecuted on an algorithm that says you're the most likely candidate to commit a crime? What's the threshold for prosecution? Will you end up in that secret Libyan C.I.A. annex?

Of course there would be.

The parties agree on 99.9% of the REAL issues, and just pretend to disagree with one another to give the illusion that we actually have freedom in this country.

Meanwhile they're all secretly laughing at us behind closed doors...

If we are to be safe and secure as we can possibly be we will have to have faith that our government is using data to get our enemies and not the innocent. The problem with that is that a minority of Americans like you have a visceral distrust of government and a majority like me are at least skeptical of the good intentions of our "leaders". We have lost our faith in our own democracy and the notion that it is government "for the people". We are in a tough place. If we junk the intelligence collection out of distrust, we will place our citizens and institutions at significantly higher risk. As for me, I really do believe that Bush and Obama and whoever is next respect and will uphold the principles of personal freedom in our Constitution. Their intentions are honest and in the best interest of our security. I am not so sure of the NSA etc, and think that more oversight may be needed. But it has to be secret of necessity and there you go again with the distrust.

If a Republican was President there would definitely be far less tracking of US citizens going on, because the Propaganda Machine for the Democratic Party (a.k.a. mainstream media) would not tolerate it, like they have for the last 5 years under Obama.

Probably not. But most Republicans support the PATRIOT ACT and other BS anti-terrorism law. Mr. Hope 'n Change was supposed to repeal those laws, but he has proven himself to to be just as bad as a Republican.

You can't even trust your friends and you can almost trust your family. How the hell are you suppose to trust someone you don't even know yet who's to be the next president?

People are inherently selfish and there is no way to get around that. That's why people like Paine said "Society in every state is a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one: for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries BY A GOVERNMENT, which we might expect in a country WITHOUT GOVERNMENT, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer."

Probably not but the Obama leg humpers would be apesh*t beside themselves with righteous outrage and the dinosaur media wouldn't let up on their coverage.

This whole tracking brouhaha is to divert your attention from the IRS scandal and Benghazi scandal.

I want to know who on this board who didn't give a crappola about the government having access to your personal medical records under Obamacare is now whinging over telephone metadata.

As long as we the people keep allowing President's to grab more and more power, they will keep expanding what they can do...

Think about this... Obama could have used NSA gathered information to get dirt on a supreme court justice and influence their opinions on court cases.
