No, it had your support at the time because a Republican administration wanted it.
You were ALL warned that it wouldn't cease to be legislation after Bush left office...and that it was a good chance that Hillary Clinton would have those powers (she was the presumptive nominee at the time according to most people...Obama wasn't on the scene yet).
But you guys couldn't see it because you didn't think a Democrat would win the White House after Bush left.
The Executive Branch naturally loves any power that's handed to them from the previous administrations, and are loathe to give it up.
But Republican shortsightedness at the time prevented you guys from considering that.
So stop making excuses.
