WASHINGTON (AP) — A self-described conservative Republican who is a manager in the Internal Revenue Service office that targeted tea party groups told investigators that he, not the White House, set in motion the review, the top Democrat on the House watchdog committee said Sunday.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., released a partial transcript of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform interview with the unnamed manager in the IRS’ Cincinnati office. In it, the employee said the extra scrutiny for tea party groups’ tax exempt status was an effort to be consistent in reviewing applications and not driven by politics.

‘‘He is a conservative Republican working for the IRS. I think this interview and these statements go a long way to what’s showing that the White House was not involved in this,’’ Cummings said.

I don't believe anything Cummings says anymore.
Cummings thinks all these hearings are a farce and witchunts and the Dems have done nothing wrong.
You couldn't get more partisan and party loyal then Cummings.

Have this manager show up and tell Congress that he is that "rogue employee".
And then ask Lerner just why she took the 5th.

And let the low level workers talk and give names of the managers who told them to send applications to the DC office.

Oh and FWIW Cummings also had a "magic email" about Benghazi that said the WH was not involved.

Which directly disputs the IRS own report..

I wonder who we should believe, some unnamed person, or the IRS report..

Actually the manager was interviewed, and Cummings statement is based on the transcript of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform interview.

Well then there is nothing to hide. Call that manager to the next hearing.
Maybe he'll say more than Lerner did.
Let everyone know who this guy is and let him tell his story to be view on C-SPAN for all to hear.

Maybe they will, and maybe they won't. Whether or not you believe the findings of the Committee is quite irrelevant. I am not making this up, I am just stating what the Committee found.
