O.P. today's liberals also believe in "freedom", but not necessarily the freedom of corporations, large businesses, and other mega organizations to raid the pockets of productive, working citizens, and keep them in poverty. Why do I shop aCostco rather than Walmart? They pay their employees a living wage!
I would go to Costco but the fact is on the way to Costco I have to pass at least four Walmarts and a Sam's Club. Ultimately in a time like now where gas costs so much and you have to do more with less money, I think most people's anti-Walmart's views have been quieted. A company can be evil but if they are much closer than another not evil competitor, I will go to the evil. If the option is not comparing a 40 minute drive to a 15 minute drive but a 20 to 15, I would be with you. However this is not the case where I live so Walmart and Sam's Club are visited more often than Costco.

Yeah sadly liberals use the racist argument anytime you question them.
Yesterday's anti-establishment is today's establishment. The hippies/liberals went to college and received their degrees and indoctrination and are today's CEOs, politicians, professors and celebrities.
Hmmm.... On this board the term "liberal" is used most often by the RWNJ's who wield it like some sort of ultimate put-down. "Liberal!" This, I assume, gives them some sense of "Well, I told him!" Followed by a lot of chest-thumping on the part of the name-caller.
George Corley Wallace was certainly no liberal and when he ran for President in 1968 chose General Curtis E. LeMay as his running mate but even this caveman could change and by the time he was last elected Governor of Alabama he actually polled respectable majorities of the African-American vote because he was always a heart a populist and champion of the poor.I guess that near death experience changed is soul. By the late 70s he was a backer of his good friend fellow governor and New South politician, James Earl Carter Jr. of Georgia. In fact he endorsed Carter in 1976 and 1980.
You didnt answer my question. Do you agree with his words
What is so funny?
You asked a question and I replied...
do you believe his words are anthing but Liberal?
I think I see. You are equating liberalism with the left?
Do you think a progressive or other can be to the left of a liberal?

a fuller context would reveal many accusations to be narrow and misleading.
RFK was no angel. He grew with time as most people do. He was no saint, but when we judge a man by his actions and not a snapshot in time or words alone, we get a true picture of the man.
