I think that is oversimplified somewhat, because it is not the truth which is treason. Imagine if you knew the location of American troops at a war zone and made it public and by doing that put those lives in danger. Could you say with a straight face that you did nothing wrong, because you were just telling the truth about the troops? It is not the truth which is treasonous, it is the fact that you violate your oath, and your contract by revealing classified information. If I "tell the truth" to the media about my company secrets, they'll sue me and they will win.
That Ron Paul suffers from mental illness and says a lot of 'off the wall' things is a given. I place as much importance and have as much interest in what he says as I do in what others who are mentally ill do. Let him express his opinion, which is his right. My right is to ignore what he says.
Funny. I didn't think that honesty was a mental illness?
How exactly do we have a dictatorship here? Does this mean there won't be a 2014 and 2016 election? You guys throw around the word dictatorship a little too liberally.
Because corporate interest and corrupt individuals control our government and not the people. Not a dictatorship by definition, more like an Oligarchy.

When you're living in an Ayn Rand-induced wet-dream, anything that government does, including protecting the nation from enemies foreign and domestic, that doesn't feed one's own personal happiness ("the moral purpose of his life" according to Rand) would look like dictatorship.
Has he forgot that the congress passed this when he was Ii office and he was their. I didn't hear him break the story about what was going on but perhaps he was too busy calling for the FED to be abolished as usual. As we have seen again and again its not what they preach its what they actually do once they get in office. Spin to the faithful does cost you anything when your powerless. Its no different than a congressman or senator proposing a bill that they know will not even make it to the floor.
So, going by the logic that the OP is offering to us via this quote from Ron Paul --- If I somehow knew about secret new U.S. technology that could mitigate a nuclear attack by China -- and then I revealed that technology to an official in China so that they could then counter that -- I shouldn't get prosecuted because I revealed the truth?
There is no doubt that Snowden betrayed secrets that he agreed not to reveal. That technically makes him a traitor. The question is, was the information that he revealed for the public good? Did he reveal illegal activity? Those are questions that still need to be answered.
Every country on earth needs to keep secrets for national security purposes--EVEN a theoretical libertarian country.
