I didn't say you said it, I asked you a question. Do you believe that he's responsible for high gas prices?
If it's not good for Obama the media won't talk about it.

So, do you blame Obama for high gas prices?
He reappointed Bernanke. He supports what Bernanke is doing, so yes he is responsible.

Agreed. Gas is low compared to the rest of the world. The issue isn't gas prices

I would love to be able to buy something like this but it's not likely going to happen for years at least.

Except that Europe is talking about limiting or ending diesel vehicles.
They can't drive in inner-cities in Germany at this time because of pollutants.

I get the same mpg in my petrol Kia Rio as I do in my diesel VW Transporter T-4.

That's impossible, I heard we were going to "take those profits". Gotta love the congressional dog and pony show full of feigned indignation of a bunch of career politicians angling for camera time prior to their presidential campaign run.

$4 spent on a gallon of gas, about $2 of that winds up back in the govt's pocket and about 20 cents (post tax) ends up in the oil companies pocket....and it was the politicians standing up blaming the oil companies for the high prices.

Classic political weasling.

Lastly, all of you need to stop railing about the profits of the worlds largest companies. Ones that got that big because of the industry collapse in the 80's and 90's due to record low prices and profits. You need to talk profit margin or it's meaningless. Last I checked, Exxons profits were around 13% which put them lower than McDonalds, GE, Garmin, Apple and much much more.

The "paved roads" argument is flawed though.

Yes, there are specific gas taxes that are used to maintain roads etc.

However, much larger than those amounts are all the buried taxes that are factored into the price of a gallon of gas. Port fees, property taxes, refining taxes, taxes paid by the workers, corporate taxes on profits, environmental taxes etc etc etc.

I don't even neccessarily disagree with these, it's just that most people have no idea where the money goes and how many costs are built into a gallon of gas.

That's good news, but you damn sure wouldn't know it by driving around this area.

The F-250's and Nissan Titans are all over the place. Brand new with paper tags.

Same for all the popular SUV models. Next door neighbor just got that huge Infinity SUV. Frickin tank.

I am sure you can provide links to the two accusations above and I have no idea what your second point is supposed to be.
