Here's the problem I have with that. It will make people even more reluctant to seek psychiatric help when they need it.
You mean they may be more reluctant to put Johnny on heavy pharmaceutical drugs after he throws a perfectly normal temper tantrum, or he prefers reading a book instead of wearing dresses or playing with trucks. Good!
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, of Columbine infamy, both had committed crimes in the past. They managed to bamboozle their counselors. Perhaps counselors should be made aware of this "history of past violence is the best predictor of future violence".
Mental illness of the legislators and electorate which allows toothless, feel good laws that impact everyone except the people who perpetrate violence.
If laws were so effective they might just make it illegal to commit a violent act against another person.
They create 'hate crimes' and drug free school zones to the sounds of applause.
To struggle between 'guns and mental illness' while most crime is committed by a select few whose absence would relegate gun violence to the level of drooping pants and chewing gum in a movie theater defines the insanity.

No, that's not what I meant at all. I thought it was quite clear.
People are already reluctant to seek psychiatric help, for fear of being labeled as crazy. It's quite unfortunate. If you're going to put them on a list like felons, nobody will go, and the mental illnesses will fester and grow.
To reduce the risk of multivictim violence, we would be better advised to focus on early detection and treatment of mental illness. Gun control is not the solution. Do you agree?
people are the problem, and government as well. after all, if a law abiding citizen was able to protect themselves, then we would have less criminals and less government.
blaming firearms for the murder rate is like blaming vehicles for drunk driving.

Assuming that's true, they might not be so reluctant, if you offered real help, instead of labelling them, putting them on a watch list, and putting them on heavy medication that is basically experimenting on their brains. Then when they report on side effects and don't want to take their meds, you get a court order to force them. My conclusion is that this industry doesn't care about these people, they are a revenue source and that is all.
They are also useful to the anti-gun agenda.

we should commit all politicians, all tax agents and all federal leo's. that way we the people will be safe from them.

Anybody that calls Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid sane, has no business pointing the finger at anyone else.
