But right now, the economy for retail has one million jobs more in it, thn it would if Amazon supplanted Wal Mart. 1 million fewer chairs for the same quantity of employees to sit on in their game of musical chairs.

We ARE subsidizing Wal-Mart's employee base currently.
The compensation they are receiving is in the form of welfare dollars (food stamps), which is funded through tax dollars.

I've stated before it doesn't balance out. And even so, its coming out of other employees paychecks (although relatively minute).

The issue isn't asking a company strapped for cash to stretch it's budget. It's for a company with huge profits to do more to compensate their employees.

You forgot to add "compensate their employees for their employees poor decisions." Walmart can hire a bunch of teenagers that don't have kids and they won't be receiving welfare. The issue isn't WMT, it's unskilled and uneducated people having kids. Furthermore, there is talk of amnesty, so there isn't any reason to pay WMT people more when they can just hire a former illegal or their family member.

When supply exceeds demand you drop the price and when demand exceeds supply you raise the price.

You obviously aren't up to date on current prices and what it costs to live in this country.

I don't see your point. This is by a far margin the cheapest first world country to live in. Greece/portugal might be cheaper on housing, but I'm not sure.

While you, yourself, admit to hiring part time employees rather than full time.

I'd call that a hypocrite..

COL has nothing to do with Fair Market Value.

I agree they could pay more, but their pay is competitive with other retailers and as I said before, these jobs are low skill level jobs, not meant to support a family on.

None of that matters if you still can't pay your bills.

Do the math on what it would take to pay your bills, without government help, on a salary at Wal-Mart.
