We have to wait until we decrease the surplus population... Globalization makes it easier to have work performed elsewhere for a lower cost. The baby boomers grew up in a world where 20% of the world population controlled 80% of the wealth, but we are switching to a period where 35% of the world controls 65% of the wealth. Opportunities still exist, but maybe not as many in the west as there used to be.

The vast majority of people are still making more than min wage though.

I am guessing you don't know why communism and fascism were so popular back in the day, do you?

Neither had anything to do with eliminating welfare benefits.

It doesn't matter how much they are being paid hourly, it matters how much they earn a year. One could be paid 8.50 an hour but could still be reduced to working part time.

So how exactly do you do THAT?
How about going back to the original function and purpose of Welfare, and only providing it to the people who need it, and not allow the politicians to expand it to cover everyone who has their hand out?

For example, the government is cutting the monetary amount of assistance that is provided by Food Stamps. Is this because the people in need don't require as much food any more, or is it because we lowered the bar, and tens of millions more collecting Food Stamps, means the program is running over budget? So the people who the program was designed for are getting screwed, just so politicians can buy votes.

The Kaiser transported Lenin into Moscow when they sensed the autocracy there was weakening and they could topple the government.

The Nazis beat the crap out of the communists on the streets and the people in Germany approved of their actions.

Read some history.
