Rush wasn't referring to any child or person when he said 'Retarded'......really nothing to compare. Retarded is just a word, it's those over sensitive people that say it's a "bad" word. It's all in the matter in which one uses the word that would make it offensive.

I have a son with Down syndrome and I find the word "retarded" offensive since it too often used by people who are ignorant of the meaning of the term, most often they seem to think it is another word for "stupid" which it is not. That is why people with Down syndrome are considered to be people with developmental disabilities. There have been many changes in terminology and I know older folks cannot always keep up. And, I did see that you have updated your term for people who are "black" so, at least, thank goodness for that!
Kids should be off limits including those of the president (small P on purpose). Gee, both Palin and Obama have enough to be said about them without resorting to attacking their children.
