Very well said. Methinks some of these boomers need to get off their high horse.

The only criticisms so far against Millenials are criticisms that have been thrown at every generation in their youth. Only time will tell what else this generation has in store for us. So far it's been highly innovative, using technology to its advantage.

I don't want to get suckered back into a generation war, this is my last post in this thread. Every generation is lazy and have no work ethic to their generational parents. The boomers were, gen X were the slacker and now it's Gen Y's turn. Gen Z will be the same in twenty years. That being said, I must say that we need to cast this aside and be willing to work together. To say Obama won on the youth vote alone is asinine. He won the first time against McCain in every non-red state and nearly did that against Romney. I am sure people in every generation voted Obama, the same way some millennials (like myself and my brother) voted Romney. Obama won because there were people (not just one cohort) that wanted change in government. Right now, we all really do want change. We don't want to settle for fast food or retail work, you cannot survive on those wages. There are people from every generation working in those jobs because we have nothing else to apply for due to industries shutting down, jobs skills not being looked for or a college graduate just looking for an opportunity to try and pay off their student loans.

The solution is simple. WE NEED EVERYONE TO WORK TOGETHER. We cannot fix the solutions through on generation alone. Everyone needs the economy to be issue number 1. A better economy means the boomers have a good 401K and wont have to worry about social security. A better economy means more jobs and opportunities for everyone whether they are displaced boomers and gen X or even recent graduate millennials. A better economy means less people using social welfare programs and lower the deficit. We need to work together. We have a lot to solve but if we need to work together. We don't, the US as we know it will be done by the time the majority of boomers die off.

Boomers are the generation when moms started populating the workforce so those Millenials must've been raised by their grandparents, before the advent of schools and malls becoming day care centers.

Civil disobedience, protest, whatever it takes.

My nieces and nephew are part of this generation.

My impression is they are exceptionally well-educated and motivated compared to me & my sister at their ages. And super-good on computers and all that electronic stuff. But also pretty "knowing" (but not cynical)...interesting kids.

My sister is sort of Gen X while Im at the very tail end of the baby boom generation, though I dont really see myself a part of that 1960s counterculture/student revolution era.

More a 1970s person...more Barak Obamas generation (we would have been classmates in high school).

I am a nearly retired 'boomer' and really appreciate the knowledge, attitude and skills of the GenY and the Millennial generations. They are, as a group, far more sensible, sane and reasonable than the bigoted, bible thumping, ignorant war mongering hyper patriotic (if we don't stop communism in 'Nam it will take over here) fools I grew up with.

Good luck to these kids for they will make the future and I hope it is less violent and less dominated by crony (false) capitalism then ours. I hope they will concentrate on developing our country instead of destroying others.

...many boomers can't spell correctly as well. Lack of education is a problem pervasive of all generations. Pointing it out in one particular generation over another is nothing short of ignorant. Funny how the boomers on this thread forget how they were viewed as lazy when they were in their 20's as well. Elders viewing youth as lazy is a something that has been seen for centuries. Pointing it out with only millennials doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

When I was in my 20's I was not viewed as lazy. As I was just back from 'Nam I was viewed as crazy. Some say I have not changed that much.

I think these kids will see through the elitist propaganda and get it right for a change. Capitalism for the Capitalists and enough socialism for the rest of us so we can sit back grab a beer and watch the big financiers cut each other's throats instead of ours.

Lightbulb Will the Millenial Generation Help Improve the US?

Every upcoming generation adds to the progress of society. Every aging generation has a bunch of blowhards who envy their youth and make bitter comments.
