I'm currently watching bill maher's show on hbo called vice, they are in N.K. and I can honestly say from what it looks like it looks incredibly creepy. They showed the documentary film crew as well as the nba players walking through a "mall" filled with sales people but yet no other people. They had americanized things like "coke, pepsi, doritos and such yet they were not able to actually buy anything because they don't accept credit cards. They were driven around to a school for 3 miles and never saw a single other car. They went to a "college" and it looked like a film set with extras. Incredibly creepy and just amazing what a real authoritarian country looks like.

Imagine really living in a country where you can just disappear in a moments notice and more than likely be imprisoned or killed.

Well I'm wondering how much of it is true. They did one on Chicago, and it wasn't just exaggerated or fluffed, much of it was just made up and completely unfactual. One of the "warzone" neighborhoods they visited and described as one of the toughest in the city is University Village. University Village is a fairly well off network of students who go to University of Illinois Chicago, Little Italy restaurants and yuppie housing. I was laughing except for the fact many people probably believed what the show was saying.

Fun quiz! Which US President authorized the "police action" against North Korea in 1950 to defend South Korea from Communism?

And to which party did he belong?

I agree.

However, I've read numerous stories about life inside NK from reputable sources (like natl. geographic) and they pretty much tell the same story.

Why does there always have to be a poster like this? Is it so incredibly difficult to see issues as anything other than bipartisan BS?

I can't imagine what life must be like if one is unable to get off the soapbox no matter what.

Actually, they don't have universal health care.
