In my example of people who buy Apple at $10/share 20 years ago, and now own it at $450/share, when was that gain of $440/sh. taxed previously? It wasn't. That's why it is fair to tax it as part of the estate.
Also, while nobody is prevented from opening an IRA, one has to have disposable income to do it. Workers living hand to mouth have no realistic ability to save for retirement.
I get your point but it is taxed when it is cashed in not when it is transferred.

The tea party is nothing but a bunch of frauds. The backed Rick Scott for governor. The guy wanted to use the government to make money for his business.

they are absolutely death taxes. I have no clue who frank luntz is, so that's an epic fail on your part. if my parents have millions of dollars, that have already been TAXED, and they want to leave it to me, they should do so without being TAXED again. it is clearly a death tax. over 100,000,000 people in this country have some sort of 401k type retirement. that's about 1/3. are you saying that 2/3rds of the country are poor? 401k's are subject to capital gains taxes on the interest. nice try bubba. lastly, when you quote a comedian on pay cable to make a point, you fail. poor people are the ones who are greedy. who's more greedy, the person who wants to keep what they earn, or the people who want to take from that person without producing anything of value?

Interesting fodder for the imagination to conceive of a tea party America with no taxes and no government.
Also curious how teaparty goes on and on about paying for entitlements while all the while they dont want to pay taxes, maybe they want everything for free as well.
