They find the linear trend over 1998 to 2007 is a warming trend in all three data-sets. Note that HadCRUT3 displays less warming than NASA GISS and NCDC. This is most likely due to the fact that HadCRUT data doesn't cover parts of the Arctic where there has been strong warming in recent years.
Any time I see a graph on climate temps, that starts in the middle of the little ice-age, i know it's deceitful and disingenuous, and coming from a global warming scammer. Then they want to justify pushing a tyrannical government policy based on a cherry picked nine year snapshot of temperature readings?????

1850 to 2010 is a bit more than 9 years I think.
Surface temperature reconstructions of the past 1500 years suggest that recent warming is unprecedented in that time. Here we provide a broader perspective by reconstructing regional and global temperature anomalies for the past 11,300 years from 73 globally distributed records. Early Holocene (10,000 to 5000 years ago) warmth is followed by ~0.7°C cooling through the middle to late Holocene (<5000 years ago), culminating in the coolest temperatures of the Holocene during the Little Ice Age, about 200 years ago. This cooling is largely associated with ~2°C change in the North Atlantic. Current global temperatures of the past decade have not yet exceeded peak interglacial values but are warmer than during ~75% of the Holocene temperature history. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change model projections for 2100 exceed the full distribution of Holocene temperature under all plausible greenhouse gas emission scenarios. -Phase out the legality of private automobile ownership. This would go into effect at the end of the 10 years, allowing time to build a high speed rail infrastructure to replace the Interstate Highway System and other forms of public transit to be developed.
-A law passed to limit how far a person can legally live from their place of employment
-At the end of the 10 years, it will be a felony offense to drive a fossil-fuel powered vehicle without a commercial or agricultural drivers license.
-Require dense, urban environments to be built to absorb people who can no longer live in the suburbs. Retrofit our urban areas to be more like those in Europe
-In the meantime, raise taxes on gasoline so that gas prices are no lower than $6/gallon at the 3 year mark, $8/gallon at the 6 year mark, and $12 gallon at the 9 year mark
-Outlaw all coal power plants. Require all electricity to be generated from renewable sources by the end of the 10 years
-Fund a national public transit initiative to connect America's large cities and also the smaller towns by rail. High speed rail will replace the Interstate Highway System and light rail will connect communities out from there
-Close all airports that at the time of the passage of the law have less than 30 million passengers per year
-Give tax credits to people who move to an area serviced by public transit
-Have strict, national zoning laws the put an end to suburbia. Bulldoze over suburban development no longer livable at the end of the 10-year period. Outlaw suburban and rural living unless one has an agriculture license in which they would be required to live in rural areas.

Are you nuts? You want to go back to the stone age? They will have to pry my cold dead fingers off of the steering wheel off of one of my cars!
Your post that I responded to specifically cited 1998 to 2007, your graph was 1850-2007.

Are you suggesting a nine year temperature variation matters, at all? You are talking about 11,300 years, and your proof of "unprecedented warming" is a couple years of warm temps???

OICU812,
He is using Skeptical Science, now I am not saying you should dismiss it on the reputation alone, always it should be an evaluation of the evidence to a claim than that of quick source dismissal, but note that Skeptical Science has been shown numerous times to be politically oriented, devious in methods, and immature in their discussions.
If you do some looking into it, you will see that Cook and Nuccetelli are the primary drivers of that site, they were also the "authors" of the 97% paper that was found to be ridiculously derived through extremely devious and counter to proper statistical evaluations.
They have also been caught manipulating the responses of scientists who have came to their site to defend their work and make a habit of altering their responses to make themselves look better. All of this is recorded through the "wayback machine archives".
I would do some seriously looking into their past work and accusations, and issues concerning them before I would continue on arguing with someone like sanspeur. You may just find it is a waste of time as you will be chasing one manipulated claim after another. It is a pointless venture, but if you are interested, there is plenty of information out there to run him off. I used to do it, but don't bother anymore as it is a waste of time.
Here is a link to many issues dealing with Skeptical Science. You can judge for yourself as to the validity of the issues.

You forgot :
- mandate the oil and nuclear power companies invent cold fusion or affordable, and reliable hydrogen fuel cells.
- empty all marshes and swamps to end their production of methane
-require all US citizens become vegans and close down the farming of livestock for food, to end their methane production as well

10 year plan?
Well Earth had its own plan to stop global warming. Earth emplimented that plan 17 years ago... why do we need to get all gestapo on our citizens when the planet stopped warming 17 years ago?
You know if we pass a law that outlaws breathing, we can end human caused global warming in about 5 minutes.
