This makes absolutely no sense: if you claiming to hate The Tea Party and Libertarians because you think the corrupt Republican Party took it over, why aren't you simply venomous toward the Republican politicians (I am)? Instead, you viciously attack those who want a reasonably-sized government that our nation's working class can AFFORD (which had always been the case before the explosion of Empire Big Government), as if this were a radical and evil idea.

Do you not remember OBAMA's speech about the folly of Washington's overspending and endless borrowing--burdening our children and grandchildren? snopes.com: Obama on the Debt Limit

Here's some clips:

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. government can’t pay its own bills. ... I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.” --Barack Obama, floor speech in the Senate, March 16, 2006

“Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America’s priorities. Instead, interest payments are a significant tax on all Americans — a debt tax that Washington doesn’t want to talk about. If Washington were serious about honest tax relief in this country, we would see an effort to reduce our national debt by returning to responsible fiscal policies.” --Barack Obama, floor speech in the Senate, March 16, 2006

"Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better." --Barack Obama, floor speech in the Senate, March 16, 2006

Tell me, Tea Party and Libertarian Haters, DO YOU NOW HATE OBAMA since in 2006 he supported Tea Party/Libertarian ideals, or do you still worship him since he turned out to be the ultimate hypocrite?

Back on topic, we have a similar situation here in Washington state where libertarians have largely been knocked off the ballot. A few years ago we went to a 'top two' primary system. The top two vote getters in the primary election move on to the general election, which in practice means that libertarian candidates virtually never appear on the ballot in the general election. The only exception is the election for president, where minor parties can still get on the ballot.

The GOP largely hated this system and argued against it, even though it might tend to benefit them. Prior to the top two primary, incumbent US Sen Slade Gorton (R) lost to Maria Cantwell by only a couple thousand votes, while the libertarian candidate drew over 65,000 votes.
