We have an expensive inefficient system in America and the Cons want everyone to think that is the best it will get as millions of Americans suffer without proper healthcare.
Before you can think of adding more to our public healthcare plate you have to find a way to pay for what we have. Medicare is funded by every person with earned income and then some, yet it is driving our debt because we never limited what we could spend. Everybody has access to healthcare, everybody. However, it is not free, Dr's need to be paid, overhead needs to be paid, machines need to be bought, etc. Additionally, when we have laws that force us to get certain procedure done at hospitals then we are going to have to pay hospital prices.

Stitches at a hospital will cost you $1100 but if you go to a clinic you will only pay $200... if you have clinics near you anyway.

The only difference between the government paying for it and Joe Blow paying for it is the government has a larger credit card.

We are more affluent so we do spend more, that's normal. We also have monopolies and spend more on cosmetic surgery.

If you cannot afford healthcare, then you do not have access to healthcare.

The access is still there. It's about $89-$150 to see a doctor and insurance is about $80-$200/month.

Nothing they said 0bamaCare was going to do for us has come true, everything is worse off, costs more, or has run into so many problems it won;t be implemented for a year or so longer. It's like one failed or broken 0bama campaign promise after another.

And what if the doctor finds something wrong? Seeing a doctor is one thing, finding out something is wrong is a different thing. Breaking your arm is going to cost a lot more than $150, finding out you have something that needs surgery, or any other thing that could make the cost jump up fast. If you can't afford insurance, then it is not available to you.

So if it hasn't even gone into effect yet, how can you gauge how it has done so far? That is like complaining your unborn child hasn't made it into college yet.

Well, that's why most people buy insurance (to transfer the financial risk to someone else). Some people self insure and some people go without. Very few people can't afford insurance at any cost and for them we have charity and medicaid. I went without insurance for a long time and if it weren't for the fact that HSA accounts are tax free I wouldn't even have it now, yet the politicians wanted people to cry for my poor uninsured soul. lol

I have known people with "pre-existing conditions" that made health insurance too costly for them without a job that provided health insurance. It does happen and there are millions of Americans in this situation.
