Seems to me that pretty much all religions share the same basic tenet, "my way or the highway". Beyond trying to compel others to believe as they, they just have differing "truths" to impose.

I'm surprised there are any religious people in Asheville. It's full of northeastern overaged hippies who still haven't found themselves.

So what is the problem with 70+ hippies? Did you expect all of them to "find God" as they got older? Why? They found God a long time ago on the other side of a hash pipe.

I wonder what the "faithful" miss the most; being able to brow beat these people with religious magic or just their potential payments to the protection racket called "organized" religion.

Jack Nicholson as George Hanson in Easy Rider probably explained as well as anyone why some have such issues with 'hippies' of any age:

"They see a free individual, it's gonna scare 'em.Oh, yeah, that’s right. That’s what’s it’s all about, all right. But talkin’ about it and bein’ it, that’s two different things. I mean, it’s real hard to be free when you are bought and sold in the marketplace. Of course, don’t ever tell anybody that they’re not free, ’cause then they’re gonna get real busy killin’ and maimin’ to prove to you that they are. Oh, yeah, they’re gonna talk to you, and talk to you, and talk to "

There is a difference between being owned by the money men and being rented. When you are owned you become part of their recket. When you are rented for a salary you still have the freedom to despise the bastards while you take their money.

You should remember George had his brains bashed out in some thicket of trees in a Louisiana parish,George never got to Mardi Gras or that famous ***** house! Wyatt and Billy were gunned down on some lonely Southern highway between New Orleans and presummedly Florida.
