We have terrorists in this country. How do you suppose we track them down. Or maybe you think we shouldn't because you feel it's an invasion of privacy.
If they have to violate our constitutional rights to catch a criminal, I would prefer that they not catch the criminal.
If LE cannot track down terrorists without violating our rights, we need new LE personnel.
Question for some of you to think about. Were the founders of this nation heros or traitors because they went against the grain of government at the time (King George of Great Britain). The fact is the members of the Boston Tea Party and the American revolution were seen by many at that time as traitors. When government does evil they need to be called out on it. I have no doubts, that if some of you were adults in America in the time 1760-1800 you would have called the founders of this nation "traitors". Sad but so very true.
Good post.
Yes, Snowden is just like those who put their lives at risk 250 years ago to combat a tyrannical government.
A hero doesn't run from danger. Which rules out that designation. If you ever read Thoreau's essay on civil disobedience he said if you feel a law is unjust, break it. But be willing to pay the penalty. Thoreau himself was imprisoned for refusing to pay a tax he felt unjust. (Though only a day when someone paid it for him).

The only one to protect you from the government is another government.

He is a traitor. He betrayed secrets he swore to protect. Therefore, he isn't only a traitor, he is a criminal and should be treated as such.
Yeaph, he betraded our overlords who never wanted us to know that they are spying on innocent civilians for no reason
