First of all, you completely misunderstood the programs offered in the UK. People worked for those companies in return for a promise of a job interview. Those programs were more akin to unpaid internships, not 'working for welfare'. Additionally, companies paid taxes, so nothing about this is 'for free'.
We have also proven to you time and time again how raising minimum wage has a net negative effect on an economy. All your solution would do is drive more people towards unemployment.
It is simply not a fact that raising the minimum wage in America has a net effect on the economy. This is just not the truth.
Australia has a work for the dole (welfare) policy that has been in place for 15 years or so. Work for local gov, landcare groups etc but not for private companies. 5.3% unemployment here atm so it's not cutting jobs anywhere. IMHO you should have to earn a payment from the gov by working for the community that pays the tax. If you don't want to then that's fine, dont ask for the dole. Oh and all welfare recipients should be periodically drug tested and should be drug free to receive any money
Australia's unemployment is 14.3% and 20.5% for those seeking work and those seeking work + underemployed, respectively.

Show me a shred of evidence to prove what you just said. Have you never studied deadweight loss in macroeconomics? Go ahead and read these. The first link is a youtube video that explains the math behind deadweight loss in very easy-to-understand terms

Once upon a time, a miss america contestant was reported to have said "I'd give everyone a million dollars so everyone would be rich." Did you attend the same economics program?
Plenty of countries do this, ie: if you are on welfare then you must work for a company for 'free' , IOW - you must earn your benefit/welfare.
Is this just exploitation of the poor?
I think it is.
Discuss.
I think it can become exploitation in the hands of right wingers. Of course, in the hands of right wingers EVERYTHING becomes exploitation.
