Defense proved Zimmerman was on the bottom - had they not, it was game over for him.
Defense made the prosecution witnesses look silly at best or even turned them into supporting the defense.
Prosecution may have overreached with 2nd degree murder...manslaughter would have been much easier to prove.
It comes down to, did Zimmerman have a legitimate fear for his safety enough to use lethal force. Martin had bruised knuckles, was on top, Zimmerman has injuries....not sure there is enough there to say he did or didn't = likely acquittal.
Manslaughter at this time is not off the table. The State can request a jury charge on manslaughter as a lesser included and that would enable the jury to find him guilty of manslaughter. We won't know about that until both sides rest the evidence portion of their cases and then give closing argument. After closing arguments, the Judge will read a long Jury Charge (instructions) to the jury which will include the laws regarding this case. After jury charge, we will know whether or not manslaughter can be considered by the jury.
Summary of the day: Martin was on top of Zimmerman just prior to the shooting, Zimmerman was fully cooperative following the shooting (at one point he became erect), EMTs were unable to revive the dead body, and Zimmerman suffered head and facial injuries. At what point does the State actually begin to present its case?

he would be no-billed and given the key to the city. people would have been bidding to have Mr. Zimmerman move into their neighborhood.
