Any consensual adults couples should be able to marry each other, regardless of their gender. Anything less is discrimination.

inheritance can be done via a will, as can a named 'next of kin' , and adoption can still by done by single people anyway,

and I can't see why two men or women together, should have more rights in taking on someones elses' kid

can you?

a couple tends to have more rights than a singleton , in the adoption stakes.

so that's discrimination against single people.

why should two men, joined by a piece of paper, be allowed to queue jump here?

Personally, I don't care. Not my business. I also don't care if you and 37 other men and women decide to marry each other and start a big polygamous compound where you hoard guns and worship wax fruit naked in the moonlight. Not my business, not the gov't's business.

The taboo about inter-familial marriage stems from the potential it has for messing up the gene pool.

And, of course, there isn't a huge, vocal movement of people who are asking for the rights to marry members of their immediate family. When that happens, get back to me. Meanwhile, let's stop being bigoted and discriminatory towards people based solely on gender.

why not just abolish marriage entirely then?

so do you think isolated communities should be able to make their own laws in the marriage area then?

I really couldn't care less. But as long as we have marriage, consensual adult couples should have equal access to it, and not be precluded from it based solely on gender.

I can see them having the same amount of rights as any other couple in taking on someone else's kid.

If you want to fight marriage laws, fight marriage laws.

However, by keeping gays out, you're keeping marriage laws discriminatory.
