A lot of men over 35 grew up in a time where it was far less socially acceptable to come out than it has been in the last decade or so. To conform to societal standards some of these men, especially in the bible belt and Southern Baptist dominated regions, got married to a woman and had kids. Today it is more acceptable to come out, so therefore they came out. They didn't turn gay.
seems to be a few men (and some women) that come out, or go bi as they get older, say 35 plus or so,
why is this?
Duh. They were hiding in their closet. I knew a man who did not come out till he was 34 and after having been married for 15 years with two kids. He always knew he liked men, but got married to fit in, to appear like a straight man. My older brother did the same thing with two wives. A neighbor of mine did not even know that she like women till she met the love of her life when she was 47, then divorced her husband of nine years. It is society and its pressure that causes people to hide their true selves away. I chose to be honest with both my self and my family at 18. I was not going to repeat what my brother did, it screwed up his life and that of his two wives.
well how about guys that cannot get sex with women, say in the navy or are just darned ugly - this seems to happen, but really they are not gay, just a tad desperate.
so can anyone turn gay in the right circumstances?

Not only was it not socially acceptable, but it was against the law. Getting caught with another man in a comprimising situation could cost one his job, his family and end up being jailed and having your name and picture pasted all over the newspaper as a pervert. Society created that dark and misirable closet that they love to shove us into.

Well, give it a try if you think it is so easy to just turn gay, then come back to us with your results. People do not turn gay or choose to be gay.
