Well hell that's not fair. When liberals get their way folks like YOU won't be able to play anymore on the girls or boys or any team. Off to the gulag with a brute like yourself. lol
I totally disagree with you: I do think the reasoning was pretty stupid and was just a way to end her career playing a contact sport in a mixed sex situation. I agree we need to teach young men (boys) how to respect girls, but there is no way a girl, should be expected to be allowed to play a sport like football with guys after a certain age. As for boys and what they may or may not say or do: let's face it: there is an old saying "boys will be boys" ,
Did you ever play the sport in high school or Jr Hilg? Do you have kids who did? If you can answer yes, then you would know, it isn't a sport for girls, if they want to stay alive and healthy. Not when they play against guys.
There is a reason God created boys and girls, we are equal or should be treated equal, but we are not the same. Why do you think, as an example, boys have faster times in swimming competition for starters.
I disagree, it is an entirely individual decision. There are some girls that should retire playing with the boys, and there are other that should still play. It seems like, based on other stories, she was still thriving. I think football can be dangerous for all kids, male or female.
If the issue with her playing was a physical k e, this would not be an issue. It wasn't in this case and many posters are trying to derail the topic into whether or not girls should play football.

I am a "Liberal" and I believe there shouldn't be mixing of the genders in contact sports, for multiple reasons.
Well those "impure" thoughts saved her from getting her head caved in at least. Thank the Lord. Once kids get around that age girls and boys are not equal no matter how much those femanazi's scream. My girl played until the 5th grade and had a lot of fun but the boys just got to big. Nature cannot be disrupted by political correctness no matter how much the liberal weenies scream.
Go back and read the article again. She was a STARTER on the team. As long as she CAN compete, she should be on the team. Use a little common sense. She was kicked off the team solely because of her gender, and the school's inability to teach their so called "Christian" values.
Some biology. Girls go through puberty earlier than boys. Some even younger than average. My daughter, and I, were both 10, and in 5th Grade. She played boys ice hockey, and towered over the 10 and 11 year old boys who hadn't gone through male puberty yet. Opposing teams parents constantly challenged her AGE. "That girl cannot be this young."
She made the boys JV team at 13, but only played for one year before switching to an all girls travel team out of state. That was the age at which the boys got bigger.
She played Women's Hockey in College. Now in her 30's she plays on a local non-checking Coed Team, and said the Women's Team "sucks". Age at both ends of the spectrum matters. As she now says, "Get out of my way, GRANDPA". lol Bobby Riggs learned that lesson.
Guys, you gender prowess WILL decline when you get old.
Folks before you waste time posting please note this thread is TEN years old!!
I saw that. I'm trying to find out what happened to Maddy. There were no follow-up stories. I wonder if she was so discouraged that she because a drug addict or a hooker. Or both.
