Well fortunately for you, Obama is looking out for you. *snicker*
How does not building the pipeline, which will result in people driving the oil, thus increasing carbon emissions, actually result in reducing pollution?
Then you miss the most important part of the whole equation, the amount of "naturally occurring" bitumen in the ecosystem versus the artificial and destructive process of going underground and destroying the environement while extracting and processing it.
My body can survive a seasonal flu virus, it can't survive AIDS. The Earth is a body with a complex set of environements. Destroy it and the planet dies slowly.
What a bunch of crap! Now you're likening the extraction of bitumen to Aids?
You must back away from the rehetoric your group loves to spout ad-infinitum. Going underground? Destroying the environment? Brother; how about throwing in raping and pillaging just to round out your hyperbole?
Strip mining of all sorts of minerals have existed for at least a century. The very crops grown around the world are being encouraged to do so with Potash taken from Canada's prairies for decades now. High grade coal that fired YOUR (still operating by the by) electrical generators was strip mined and shipped from B.C. for decades.
The very oil you're obsessing over, to reiterate, has been laying there and polluting naturally for countless centuries now. Come up with a definitive assessment that would result in showing that being exacerbated by the extraction process and we'll have a talk about how to mitigate those results, but please keep the emotive, childish hyberbole out of the intercourse altogether.
The stuff is and will continue going to your upgrader refineries on your gulf coast or other destinations regardless if it's via rail, truck, or tanker.
Choosing whether it be transported via a statistically safer and cleaner pipline method or forcing it to default to the current methods, posing far greater risk to the environment, is the ONLY consideration you may partake in.

You missed the winking emoticon and the *snicker*.
Meaning that Obama won't do crap about keystone and risk those senate seats but he will TALK a good game for the benefit of that poster.
In short, I'm mocking people that think Obama is going to do anything about Keystone over environmental concerns because it's not politically viable.
Not quite true. The planet survives and we die slowly. The planet did just fine, with a couple of interruptions, for a couple of billion years before we were here and will do quite fine if we disappear.
I do quite well on my gasoline burning bicycle thank you. The point is this oil is not destined to provide fuel for the US but to be sold elsewhere.
It goes into a global market distribution system thereby ADDING quantity and thereby contributing to price stabilization GLOBALLY.
Unless you have extricated yourselves from the gobal economy, wouldn't this also include the U.S. in price stabilization?
The cost of the gallon of gas you use on that bicycle is affected by less amount of sweet crude being required for things that suite the useage of raw crude.
That's just it, you missed the joke there, you see the reality is that Obama doesn't care about you or me, it's all about politics, rewarding his friends, and cronies for political gain, and destroying anyone who gets in the way.
But that is just domestically, on the world stage he is a limp wristed wussy. Obama demonizes his domestic political opponents, he's all for meetings with the enemies of our country, without preconditions, but he has no time to meet with his political or ideological opponents. When it comes to them, he is insulting, demeaning and adversarial, e.g. “We don’t have time for a meeting of the flat-earth society.” You'd never here Obama ever speak like that about the Taliban.

Tell that to the coal mines and power plants his policies have forced to close. If Obama thinks his policies can destroy something with one hand, and use the other hand to distract the vasty ignorant voter population, so they are unawre of what he is destroying, then he will do it; albeit with a compliant news media in his corner.

I was talking about keystone. If you would like to talk about coal mining and plants that's a different topic which I'd be happy to respond to if you'd like to start a thread and provide the background information.
