and what prevented anyone from doing this now? What has this decision made so that now its going to be a prolific problem?
Got stats to back this asinine claim?
OK asinine, be in denial. I don't care if you don't get it. This is going to happen now and there is nothing we can do to stop it. The Fed will just end the spousal and survivor benefits rather than lose the whole SS system. Those benefits were added years`after SS began and they can and will be ended because they can't be payed.
Here's the take-home message of the analysis I linked: "federally recognized gay marriage would reduce the budget deficit by about $450 million a year"
That's right - getting rid of DOMA will ADD $450 million per year to the federal coffers.
Why would anyone be compelled to enter into a scam marriage with someone who did not qualify for their own benefits and remain in the marriage for ten years? How did the unqualified non-working spouse/dependents survive during the 10 year scam? f they applied for welfare, the state would go after the employed spouse and garnish wages.
Not to mention that courts' usually split your assets in half in a divorce.
I'll kill it myself, it's apparent that I'm the only one here that can see what's about to happen. I've saved enough for my wife to survive without SS. Good luck to all of you. Congratulations on your SCOTUS victory and may you live gayly ever after.

your continued dodge of the most important question (what prevented scam marriages prior to today?) shows that YOU do not know what's about to happen.
