Actually, the South was home to thousands of terrorist acts committed against American citizens and sanctioned by the establishment there. They should have been more than a whipping boy - the South should have never been allowed to institute Jim Crow....and they can't be allowed to try to reinstitute any aspects of it now.

So if one can register on a working day then one can also get their free ID on a working day.

And "Presumably, at some point a person might need to travel to the county seat for some business, and get their free ID that same day."

The argument was that they couldn't get into town to get the ID.

Now the goal post has moved to "absentee ballots" ?
You have any stats on how many rural folks vote absentee ballots because they can't get to town ?

here in Georgia we sent out mobile photo trucks for FREE ID's
worked great
we have more folks voting that ever before
it works
it is just the race baiters that
spread lies
like the op did here
jim crow, my ass~~

I don't see how you can have a honest election without some type of identification.

Libs are only up in arms about this because they know that it will stop them from bussing voters around to multiple stations, stop dead people from voting (who happen to vote overwhelmingly dem), and stop illegals from voting.

Hard to game the system with out those things.

Because buying beer is not a right, voting is.

According to information presented in Senate hearings on voting in 2011, about 11 % of Americans lack any form of picture I.D.

The challenge has been leveled.

Will you accept it?

There are many instances in this transcript of Senate hearings held in 2011 on "New State Voting Laws: Barriers to the Ballot" --- about 300 pages worth.

Description
Electoral College. Provides that the Commonwealth's electoral votes shall be allocated by congressional district. Receipt by a slate of presidential electors of the highest number of votes in a congressional district constitutes the election of the congressional district elector of that slate. Receipt by a slate of electors of the highest number of votes in a majority of congressional districts constitutes the election of the two at-large electors of that slate. In the event no slate receives the highest number of votes in a majority of districts, receipt by a slate of the highest number of votes statewide shall constitute election of the two at-large electors of that slate.

This is the kind of **** they're doing to rig the counting. If that had been in effect in 2012 Romney would have won Virgina despite the voter of Virgina voting for Obama by 150,000 votes.
Richmond Sunlight » 2013 » Electoral College; State's electoral votes shall be allocated by congressional district. (SB723)

Virginia's not the only state that wants to do this. Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin also want to rig it so that the electoral votes go to the Republican even though the people voted for the Democrat. In 2012 Obama won the popular vote in all those states but if this scheme had been in effect Romney would have gotten most of the electoral votes.
How Republicans Plan To Rig The Next Presidential Election, In Six Pictures | ThinkProgress
Republicans have two options if they ever want to win another national election.

1. Rig the electoral college using the method described above
2. Support gay marriage

Why they would choose dishonest, shady option 1 over option 2 beats me. As for voter ID's, they are as racist as whites only businesses. The government should ban them nationwide.
