I was well below my BMI while in the Army, 2 mile run 13- 14 minutes, 80 push ups, 80 sit-ups, did what was right, still took BP medicine, and do to this day.

I don't care about "free" health insurance.

My current BMI is optimal - as are all other parameters.

It makes me feel great, makes me have lots of energy, and it puts a smile on my face.

Not having to pay for my health insurance would certainly be a great "extra," but it's not needed to tell me that I need to live healthy.

No because BMI is a crock of bull and with my build I'd be emaciated to reach some arbitrary BMI standard.

Hint: NFL runningbacks are "obese" by BMI standards.

My husband's employer/insurer is already doing this. Our cost for health care, this year will be $0.
The next project is 10,000 steps a day to earn a $500 gift card. Employees who choose to participate rec'd
a wristband pedometer and upload results.

As far as "free" health care (good insurance) is concerned I could care less about the exorbitant medical industry profits so long as I am not paying them. I believe we should have a Universal Health Care system free of private insurance and facilities ownership with the unnecessary costs of excessive management and executive salaries as well as private profit. I would prefer a system where the medical personnel are well paid but the administrators were on the Federal pay scale.

In the U.S., non-profits can be wildly profitable and many are. They just are not allowed to return those profits to shareholders as dividends. Senior admin people can and do earn $ 7 figures at most large hospitals.

Profits are typically used to build the brand, expand, acquire the competition and medical practices. And then they whine about needing Medicare to subsidize resident compensation.

The American Hospital Association, Big Pharm, Medical equipment and 50 state insurance lobbies spend $ billions to ensure the status quo. The rest of the developed world with tenured national healthcare did not have these kinds of well oiled and very powerful lobbies to contend with. Every bit of anti healthcare propaganda is one way or another, paid for by tax-exempt organizations funded by these lobbies.

Other nations with national healthcare do not have people being diagnosed with late stage , stage 4 cancer in the ER. 60+ % of personal bankruptcies are not attributed to medical bills.
