really? who died as a result of that judges decision???
The little girl would have dies without the judges decision.
And people like Kathy Sebilious would have shrugged and simply said "oh well people die" and walked away.

What is seen is the little girl who needs new lungs. What is unseen is the person who would have gotten the lungs if not for the little girl and the judge. The little girl's friendly judge ACTED as a death panel for somebody else. I hope she survives and lives a life worthy of the memory of whoever died without the lungs she got.

Government should not be changing the rules based on emotion, DOCTORS set the protocol based on best possible outcomes.

The age restrictions were in place due to organ size and physiological constraints.

An age restriction, because an adult sized lung will not fit into a child sized body. THAT is a medical reason.

Because organ size plays no role in determining if a transplant will be successful or not????

No, Sebilius decided that the DOCTORS that decided the protocol knew more about transplants than the government does.

No, it didn't. Adult lungs are larger than children's lungs. You have to cut down an adult lung to fit into the chest cavity of a child. And that makes it more challenging to connect blood vessels and nerves and other pathways necessary for a successful transplant.

There's a reason Sarah is in surgery today.
