I would argue that political correctness is simply "manners". Charlton Heston was an actor, so maybe not necessarily a profound intellectual. He also held gun conventions for the NRA after some pretty tragic shootings.

Yes, it is. Except I'd go a step farther. In the present day, it is tyranny induced by fear, not manners.

Do you really believe that political correctness is tyranny? Tyranny is quite the strong word....tyranny?

He was also a great leader in the civil rights fight.

But I wouldn't expect lefties to ever seek the truth.

Rights are rights.

I am aware of his activism. What truth are you implying that I should seek? Holding gun conventions after a shooting is vicious and self-interested. Why do you think I would want anything other than truth?

Give me a break!!!
This would be my guess too. You would be hard pressed to find anyone in that generation who hadn't and that includes people of color making remarks against people of color!

I used to live in Detroit and the N word was dropped all the time. The neighbor kids used to play basketball in the back yard and it was nappy headed N**** this and that and f***ing N***** all the time. I don't recall ever using the word but I probably did at some point. Should I pay for that for the rest of my life when I herald from an area where the word was used all the time by people of color? If you want to hear the N word used, go hang out in the city. You'll hear it used all the time by the very people who claim it offends them.

This is nothing but a witch hunt.

Paula Deen, did not begin life as anything other than an "ordinary woman." Success comes through hard work, perseverance, and a love of what one is doing. Those endorsements came with her success, and they were well earned.

The Food Network has made a mistake. Viewers of the Food Network pay the bills by buying the products which advertisers promote. Without viewers, there are no sponsors, and no Food Network. That is how the Market works.

Your attitude is so typical of the Left, which hates success. Anyone who "makes it" in life is condemned, and if you can find something in ones background (as in Paula Deen's case) to destroy them with, that is what you will do. In doing so, you destroy more than one person. You destroy the enjoyment of millions of Americans.

Leftist will be happy when no one has the ability to become wealthy, but everyone is grovelling at the feet of government (and a Dear Leader like Obama) for a hand out.

This great country of ours, this "America" that our founders created, which has lifted more people out of poverty than any system of government in the history of man, is being destroyed by this kind of nonsense, of which you are a participant.

You are to be shamed.
Ahhhh, come on, she didn't do all of that herself, some one else did it. Anyway, thanks, you are spot on, great post.

it was not 20 or 30 years ago it is as recent as 2007 when she thought a slave style plantation wedding would be a grand idea. look at youtube and you will find paula calling her black friend, "black as a board". telling him to come out from the black board because she can't see him. calling people at work her little monkeys. saying she doesn't know what jokes will offend people is a cop out. all of this is bigotry.

saying dumb things towards people about the color of their skin even without the intent of hurting them is still bigotry. ignorance of the law is no excuse and neither is the ignorance of thinking you can talk like that and not be considered a racist. the woman should of known better more than 30 years ago. as she said in her interview on the today show, where not only did she not say she was sorry, she added "I is what I is and I am not changing".

She is blind and too stupid to see herself and her actions for what they are.

doing nothing to stop your brother from watching porn at work with others present. making an obscene gesture with pastry, admitting to making sexual jokes at work, all show a lack of consideration for other people.

Paula in these cases is not a private citizen but a spokesperson for national brands on tv, you can't be oblivious to how you should act.

she is paying a dear price for her overall lack of comprehension. I almost feel sorry for her
You make a point, but I can't figure out why any of her employees didn't file a complaint or law suit.
