Why do we have to fill out what ethnicity we have on government and other papers?
Aren't we just Americans or where ever you come from.
On a passport picture you can see what color, but why do people have to fill it out on forms for a short sale, census papers, etc.
Isn't 2013 the time we should just go by income, education, etc.
What does it matter in a short sale what ethnicity a person has. My clients had to fill it out on more than one paper and even at the doctor you are asked about it...
Aren't we just Americans or whatever nationality you may have!
On a census paper, all you have to say is how many people live at your domicile. I know this because I was a team leader back in 2010. In fact, this is true about everything you mention I am pretty certain. You don't have to answer.
There are socio-economic differences between the races and ethnicities. Until all races and ethnicities have the same crime rates, poverty rates, incomes, etc, then we should continue to account for our racial differences.

I understand what you are saying, but how does it help anything to screw other people over? Like if a college accepts, say, a black student with a lower GPA and SAT score than an asian student with a higher GPA and test score? Or making companies hire less qualified workers to appease a race quota?

Are you talking about affirmative action now? Because that is a totally different topic then the thread implied.
You appear to have a somewhat conservative viewpoint while simultaneously being very polite. Believe me, you will be welcomed around here!

Thanks! I do have some conservative views, but also share some with the left. I identify most with libertarians (not Glenn beck/Paul Ryan libertarians), but I claim no allegiance.
