From the article "The guilt, shame and sorrow she must feel is something most of us will never be able to comprehend. You could hear it in her voice, see it in her jittery body language."
She felt so much guilt, shame and sorrow that she skipped the funeral and lied about the reason. It has nothing to do with color, it's her own fault she is an illiterate liar. She made her own bed, now she must endure the consequences.
Wow! This is 2013, isn't it, or did I just travel back in time 60 years?
I don't understand all this examination of her anyway. Why should it bother people so much if she presents herself well or not? Why the microscopic examination of every detail about everyone on TV nowadays that we get multiple page threads attacking her and debating whose "fault" it is that she doesn't present well? She's not running for congress, she's a witness in a trial. If you watch any TV trials, you'll see a whole lot of people of all colors who don't present themselves well, so what else is new? The folks on the jury are the ones making the decision, it's up to them to decide if they believe her or not.
I certainly didn't realize that. She was, frankly, a disaster as a witness.
It wasn't just her language skills, it was her overall demeanor and lack of respect.
Rachel's performance on the stand was a reflection of the poor preparation of her testimony by the prosecution. The DA's office should have practiced with her for about a week prior to putting her in the stand. They should have also given her pointers on the importance of body language and given her strategies to handle cross examination.
Oh and her overall demeanor and lack of respect is called being a teenager in America in 2013.
