Nonsense, many males, especially rural, took a perverse pride in not being educated. Should we now throw a pity party for their ignorant attitude?
Couldn't possible be because of any bias at work now could it. Nah, the boys just aren't cut out for it. Yet, men still dominate science and engineering.
"The data show, for the first time, that gender disparitiesin teacher grades start early and uniformly favor girls. In every subject area, boys are represented in grade distributions below where their test scores would predict.
The authors attribute this misalignment to what they called non-cognitive skills, or "how well each child was engaged in the classroom, how often the child externalized or internalized problems, how often the child lost control and how well the child developed interpersonal skills." They even report evidence of a grade bonus for boys with test scores and behavior like their girl counterparts.
I would also add that if you are a parent you should send your boys to an all boys school. All boys' school graduates are 4 times more likely to attend college than boys that attend coed schools. The same goes for girls, especially looking at their performance in math and science.
boys in coed classes: 37% scored proficient
girls in coed classes: 59% scored proficient
girls in single-sex classes: 75% scored proficient
boys in single-sex classes: 86% scored proficient.
Couldn't be because of society's investment in women either.

Take this site for example, 64 programs available for men vs 200 for women.

that's true for sure, and when I was a kid it was considered 'uncool' to go to uni, though that's changed now fortunately.
but still, this equality idea is nonsense as a girl has many advantages over a man, not least the power of sex - shouldn't they get paid LESS because of that?

Yes, we should throw a pity party equivalent to the sort of pity party thrown over things like the "Gender wage gap."
It's bizarre to me how when girls fall short, it is "the fault of society," yet when boys fall short, the boys are labeled 'ignorant'. (As if adolescent boys are expected to be self-taught!) There really are two totally different sets of standards and expectations.
When a field is 90% male, like computer engineering, then it's due to male bias and oppressiveness. When a field is 90% female, like elementary school teaching, that's men's fault for not becoming elementary school teachers.
The real question is where is the right wing outrage that a woman was let out of the kitchen and allowed to have a job?
LOL ... No comments. Although I am Conservative in many ways, I like the fact that I am able to get an education and hold a job, I am very glad I am financially independent. I am a little feminist (Love men, not a men hater by any means).
This is why non-college educated, low-IQ conservative males are starting to hate "feminism" (despite not knowing the meaning of the term). They are being left behind, due to their failure to adapt in a rapidly changing world.
Interesting comment. So when women were earning less and unable to compete in the market, we spent billions on awareness campaigns, affirmative action, training programs, scholarships, etc. But now that men are getting in that situation, we just show contempt for them.
The guy who did the research "attributes the earnings reversal overwhelmingly to one factor: education. For every two guys who graduate from college or get a higher degree, three women do. This is almost the exact opposite of the graduation ratio that existed when the baby boomers entered college. Studies have consistently shown that a college degree pays off in much higher wages over a lifetime, and even in many cases for entry-level positions. "
If word of this gets out, conservatives will expand their war on woman and demand for laws making it illegal for them to make more than minimum wage and taxing them for not being pregnant.
