Your rights under the constitution are what the courts say they are. The courts have been with this from the onset. The chief justice of SCOTUS appoints the judges that work with the law enforcement and NSA people. Until SCOTUS rules against it in a case, it is legal what they are doing. That is the way it all works under our Constitution. This will have to ruled on eventually by SCOTUS. Without that, business as usual whether any of us like it or not. The "good news" is that the government is enormously incompetent and I imagine are choking on their own gzillion bytes of data.

The whole IRS thing is far more scary to me than some agency sucking up all my calls etc. The IRS can ruin you overnight.

Why worry about the NSA in some Robert Cochran, Joel Surnow teleplay when a well placed word at Washington cocktail party would do? The question comes down to this, "the expectation of privacy." If you are concerned about data mining your cell phone records, don't use a cell phone or at least get a burner. Don't want people to know what porn sites you visit, buy DVD's and for god's sake stay off of internet forums.

I don't mean to be cavalier about the issue, privacy is important but the Court has a balancing act to perform between compelling state interests and your and my reasonable expectation of privacy. What we do in the privacy of our homes should be sacrosanct but when we venture into the public domain we have to balance those two issues. Do I have an all inclusive answer to the issue, no. But as technology advances the questions become fuzzier and fuzzier but I refuse to become a luddite as a user of modern technology or limiting the government from keeping up with those advances when they serve a compelling state interest. A balancing act that we have long had to tread.

1) SCOTUS makes something unconstitutional, its unconstitutional from day one (i.e. never okay)
2) I think what they are doing is illegal, and should be proved in court. . . I'm entitled to that opinion. We can have the opinion that laws being enforced can be ethical wrong, even illegal, even though its being debated in court.

and I equally blame Bush and Obama. . .in fact, I see the OBAMA vs BUSH repulicans V democrat argument to be idiotic. They are all looking to grow government and take your rights, I don't care if they are liberal or conservative.

the IRS thing is a BS red herring. Seriously. . .these idiots didn't even (aren't even required) to ask IRS permission for tax exemption. They go ahead and do it. . .even though its not required. . .and what? some claims were delayed. Cry me a river. (Plus they did it to liberal groups too)

Big Brother is making his final adjustments before he flips the switch to a NWO.

and before anybody replies with "Conspiracy Theory" Google the phrase George Bush Sr NWO and see for yourself how many politicians are talking it up. So it's not a joke eventhough you have those that like to slumber in timies of seriousness.

Why did you create a thread that the government is ignoring domestic terrorists?
