Stories like these cause kids to reconsider college, yet you never hear anyone challenge these stories with facts.
Journalism is dead. Every story is exaggerated to grab attention. They lie about the Zimmerman trial. Remember when NBC edited a 911 call to make it sound like Zimmerman was racist? Google it. They show pictures of Martin as a kid, and not the updated pictures of him as an adult. Just to get higher ratings from the outrage.
Example 3: The news in Chicago just reported how gas prices were dropping in Chicago and didn't know why. Well the reason is because one of North Americans largest oil refineries just got brought back online just outside Chicago for the first time in years. Of course they didn't report that. Just think of how many people applied to get that job and how many were turned down. The person who got that job can't even do basic journalism.
Example 4: NBC nightly news reported months ago that some European country was going to tax a large amount of money from every bank account in the country for people who made over so much money to fix their debt crisis. It was reported many times and they never gave the real reason why. They just made it look like it was an attack on the middle class of that country. The real reason was because there where a lot of rich Russians who laundered their money and hid it there because of the lax regulations. It was a way to get back at Russia because most of the money that met the requirements to be taxed at those levels was rich Russian money. The media never mentioned anything about that. CNBC was the only outlet that did.
Example 5: The media always comes out with stories glorifying trades as a job, when the jobs actually have high unemployment and low pay. Especially construction trades, which are in the double digits for unemployment. They talk about "shortages," but a counter study by CNBC said that the media hugely exaggerated that also and there is no shortage. They just talk about the extreme examples to come up with a good story.

CNN even showed Zimmerman's Social Security number on air...they are out to get this guy. But I agree with you about journalism. We just cancelled out NYT weekend subscription because my very liberal and independent minded wife couldn't take it any more. If the NYT isn't reaching her anymore then they really are beginning to marginalize themselves to an exclusive and narrowing audience.
The biggest lie I see being told is that Americans can't agree on certain issues. They always try to make it like we're at 2 extremes. Maybe on city-data and in media land, but when I talk to other people, we're usually always pretty understanding.
