Watching this video made me wonder. For those who feel abortion should be illegal, what should the legal consequences be for a woman who has an abortion in your opinion? It's fine to support a pro-life position, but it would appear many have not thought through their positions past their emotional responses. If something is illegal, then there are consequences for committing the relevant act.
If a man punches a pregnant woman in the stomach killing her unborn child, he might be brought up on murder charges.

The punishment fort aborting a child might require jail time. If abortion were illegal.

If a man drowns a woman 2 year old child in a tube of water he will likely go to prison. I don't see why a woman that drowns her own 2 year old child in a tube of water should get off just because she's the mother.

A man can beat the pregnant woman carrying his unborn child resulting in the death of the child. That he's the father does not protect him from being brought up on homicide charges of the unborn. That state regards it as murdering a human life. Under what grounds does it say such homicide ought remain the free choice of the woman?

"It's her body is neither here nor there." A 14 year old girl can't get a tattoo legally even though its her body. She can't purchase consume alcohol legally either. She can't inject heroin into her veins legally. She can kill her own child who is a genetically separate person from her though. And pregnancy of females is how humanity repopulates. All natural. More than porn star Bella Donna taking a baseball bat up her butt.

1. Husband charged in death of woman and unborn child | kare11.com

Quote:
HASTINGS, Minn. - A 36-year-old Apple Valley man was charged with murder Monday in the deaths of his wife and unborn child.

Dakota County prosecutors leveled two counts of second degree intentional murder against Roger Earl Holland in the deaths of his 37-year-old wife Margorie Holland and her fetus.
2. Cleveland kidnapping suspect Ariel Castro charged with murder, hundreds of rape, assault counts - U.S. News

Quote:
Ariel Castro, the Cleveland man accused of kidnapping three girls and holding them for years in his home, has been indicted on two counts of aggravated murder and 327 other counts, including rape, kidnapping and assault, prosecutors said Friday.

A Cuyahoga County grand jury indicted Castro, 52, on the aggravated murder charges for allegedly causing the unlawful termination of a pregnancy involving one of the women.
Both the law and Planned Parenthood recognize in the diction (chosen words) and in their own logic and preventing parenthood, that abortions are homicides. The term murder is a legal one though denoting an unlawful homicide.

People can pee on your boots and try to convince you its raining. Many might be suckered into the sales pitch. A few might say, "No, I think you're urinating on my boots."

MAN.....sorry.....abortion isn't all about YOU.

But, since you are a man....I can understand why you think it is. Most men do tend to think the whole world should revolve around them, their penises and their "precious" seed.

I agree annie.

"You don't want my seed? Well then you clearly hate men!" (but why would a woman agree to have sex with men if she hated men?)

If abortion is murder, and she has an abortion, then she should be charged with murder.

I support legalized abortion. However, if I did think that abortion should be illegal, then such women should probably receive a(n extremely) crippling fine (calculated based on their income).

Dang, is it going to get to the point where I can't even rub one out in the shower without being charged for murder? You know that poor "half a life" that went down the drain.

This is why instead of attack abortion directly, it may be more prudent to offer free birth control and to subsidize adoption so more people who want children but can’t have them can adopt. If anything, if a baby is aborted after the 1st trimester, it should be the doctor who is punished, not the woman. The doctor performing any abortion for any reason besides saving maternal life after the end of the 1st trimester but before the start of the 2nd trimester would need to lose their license and maybe pay a fine. 1st trimester abortion is excusable, but not something that should be encouraged. 3rd trimester abortion and partial birth abortion for any reason besides saving maternal life should carry the same penalty as 1st-degree murder since the baby is fully formed and being born. Of course, adequate child care funded free of charge should be provided by tax dollars to allow the mother to continue working should she decide to keep the baby rather than send the child off to be adopted.

I am very center-left on the vast majority of issues and I’m an atheist, but late-term abortion is not something I can abide. It goes beyond a personal choice since it also involves a defenseless child. Granted, this is a complicated issue and I’d leave 1st trimester abortion fully legal and later abortions legal only in the case of maternal life, but I’d make sure other programs were in place to protect the mother and child as well.

Advocates of abortion on demand fail to realize that, though a counter argument can be made during the 1st trimester, we are dealing with the rights of both the mother and child, not just the mother. I personally find the counterarguments for keeping first trimester abortion weak, but I acknowledge them—namely, the neurons for pain and conscious thought aren’t fully formed at that point and so you aren’t causing suffering. That said I still would personally advise against even early abortions on the principle that philosophically, good is seen as the advancement of life and weal and evil is seen as the reduction of life and weal. If we allow abortion, we must seriously consider the foundations of what we see as good and evil.
