Research shows that those who murder their own child suffer from it medically and/or psychologically the rest of their lives.
Thus, often people are punished not FOR murdering their child, but by the natural consequences of doing something so horrific.
Girls I've known who've had abortions had them at college age and are now well adjusted middle aged Moms. No horrific psychological problems that haunt them for the rest of their days. Childhood sexual abuse and rape are much more likely to cause long term mental health issues.
"Abortion Increases Risk of Women’s Mental Health Problems 81%...
Coleman's study is based on an analysis of 22 separate studies which, in total, examine the pregnancy experiences of 877,000 women, with 163,831 women having an abortion. The study also indicated abortion accounts for one in ten of every adverse mental health issue women face as a whole.
The peer-reviewed study indicated abortion was linked with a 34 percent chance of anxiety disorders, and 37 percent higher possibility of depression, a more than double risk of alcohol abuse (110 percent), a three times greater risk of marijuana use (220 percent), and 155 percent greater risk of trying to commit suicide."

De-bunked @ The Royal College of Psychiatrists website:
"Professor Coleman's systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature on termination of pregnancy and mental health1 featured several significant omissions: an undislosed conflict of interest; no assessment of publication bias; and no assessment of the quality of studies included. "Serious flaws in the reporting and conduct of the Coleman review should have been identified in pre-publication review and not left for readers of BJP to sort through subsequently. The article should be retracted and should not given the dignity of post-publication debate in a subsequent issue of the journal."
"Priscilla Coleman presents her conclusions as "an unbiased, quantitative analysis of the best available evidence" concerning the adverse mental health consequences of abortion. Huge numbers of papers by respectable researchers that have not found negative mental health consequences are ignored without comment. Not surprisingly, over 50% of the "acceptable" studies she uses as her "evidence" are those done by her and her colleagues Cougle and Reardon. "
In 1990, the American Psychological Association (APA) found that "severe negative reactions [after abortion] are rare and are in line with those following other normal life stresses."[9]APA updated its findings in August 2008 to account for new evidence, and again concluded that termination of a first unplanned pregnancy did not increase the risk of mental-health problems.[3][10] A 2008 systematic review of the medical literature on abortion and mental health found that high-quality studies consistently showed few or no mental-health consequences of abortion, while poor-quality studies were more likely to report negative consequences.[4] In December 2011, the U.K. National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health published a systematic review of available evidence, similarly concluding that abortion did not increase the risk of mental-health problems.[5][11]
Despite the weight of medical opinion on the subject, some pro-life advocacy groups have continued to allege a link between abortion and mental-health problems.[12] Some pro-life groups have used the term "post-abortion syndrome" to refer to negative psychological effects which they attribute to abortion. However, "post-abortion syndrome" is not recognized as an actual syndrome by any medical or psychological organization,[13] and physicians and pro-choice advocates have argued that the effort to popularize the idea of a "post-abortion syndrome" is a tactic used by pro-life advocates for political purposes.[1][12][14][15] Some U.S. state legislatures have mandated that patients be told that abortion increases their risk of depression and suicide, despite the fact that such risks are not supported by the bulk of the scientific literature.[4[16]

then pro lifers can adopt all of those unwanted children and raise them. A
It's never going to happen. Every year 30,000 kids age out of foster care. The anti-choice crowd can't even give those kids homes. They don't care about unwanted kids. They care about telling everyone how religious they are and they care about telling women what to do.
The nitty-gritty of adopting a mixed race, special need 14-year old? Making sure he has a loving family, a safe place to sleep and food in his stomach and (at least) a high school education? Not happening. They look the other way.
I just checked the life news web site. You can click a button to fight Obama and overturn Roe v. Wade. But no one-click button for adopting that 14-year old who will age out and live under a bridge.

So....is there a link that goes along with that?
(If it's from LifeNews, I fart in its general direction. Thank you, Monty Python.)
Baloney. Maybe phony research by LifeNews. Perhaps you should have said "a small percentage" suffer from residual guilt.
Data please....
I have watched a friend go through hell for decades because of her abortion. I will never forget the phone call she made to me so many years ago. She was drunk and all she could say was "Today is the day the would be baby should have been born". She used to spend every August on a bender. It was only after talking her own daughter out of an abortion that she could let go. Her granddaughter has been a healing spirit in her life. A child who lives because she stopped an abortion to replace the one who died because she chose abortion.
I would not wish the aftermath of abortion on anyone I cared anything about. The problem with abortion is that pregnancy is a self fixing problem. The pregnancy would be over once you cross the due date but one decision takes a life and the other gives life. Once you cross the due date there is no more denying that it was a baby. A "would be" baby as my friend said. A ghost child.
