You are upset that people "oppress" you for wanting to use racial slurs? Talk about a weak argument, you are still allowed to use racial slurs all you want, but we as a society are still free to judge you because of them.

Oh and legalizing gay marriage doesn't mean you have to stop hating gays, you can keep doing that till the day you die, that is your freedom of choice....but don't be shocked when people argue with you because they too are free to disagree with you.

Lets try not to get mired in arguments here for or against SSM. This article was about the demise of the antigay movement. I'm really interested in opinions in the article. Can we please also avoid inflammatory words like "detest" and such? That will only break down into a mudslinging match.

No one is discussing left Vs right here. Plenty of social liberal/fiscal conservative people out ther. Please don't try to derail the thread. Thanks.

No one ever stopped gays from being together.
They want SS benefits, tax benefits, health benefits, etc.
Benefits only allowable under legal conditions.

Just come out and say it for what it really is.

What does this have to do with the topic if the thread "The demise of the anti-gay rights movement"? TOS say to stay on topic. Thanks!

Oh, HappyTexan thinks all marriages are about money only, not much you can do to change that when I am pretty sure that poster probably married for money as well.

It seems the "antigay" posters on this thread are proving the point of the article. All that's left of thier movement are desperate, ridiculous, snyde remarks. They really have been beat.

Immigration benefits (my 50 year old ex-felon uncle was able to bring a 20 year old Phillipino girl he met once - to marry her - to the USA legally where a binational gay couple could not until last week), legal standing in divorce cases (i.e. custody, joint property), ability to make end-of-life decisions for their spouse, ability to get on each other's health insurance in case one wants to be a stay-at-home parent or start their own business, and more.

Not all benefits are financial.
