So why is the current POTUS allowing the patriot law to destroy our rights and freedoms? The other guy is long gone, so it's not up to him now, it's up to the POTUS that's there now.

Tells you the laws, how much time you can spend in federal prison if you release items, etc, etc, etc. Snowden went through all this.

Now, when these meetings occur in the future, the same person in the nice suit can say, "You remember what happened to Snowden don't you? If you think that was an accident, we have beachfront property in Kansas for you."

A message has to be sent. Not just for the United States, but intelligence communities all over the world.

By the way, its not information overload these people have. Its a "I don't care" attitude. Before this happened, MOST people didn't even know there was an NSA. In fact, walk down the street now. MOST people still don't know what the NSA does, couldn't tell you what the letters stand for and probably couldn't even tell you what the letters of the CIA stand for. MOST people, the general public, really DON'T CARE. As I said, they know who the last 5 American Idol winners are, but couldn't tell you who the Vice President is.
I really hope that some country gives him asylum --- certain American citizens should not be the only people in the world who can not be given asylum. We give all kinds of dissidents and actual terrorists asylum, one of the easiest visas to get now is the S visa for "soplones" or "snitches". Being an American should not deny us one of the basic international rights -- and that is to seek asylum from the regime that seeks to kill you as one of it's dissident citizens.

Maybe they can change his identity and even use his services in some way.

And Russia and China are two countries that won't harbor him either because for the same reason.

Super rich people and those of elite privilege are out raged with Snowden. He is not a threat to national security - but to the security of all those who do extremely well in America - who are the top dogs - who have comfort and status - through the art of deception and fraud...If say a radio or TV host is making a few million a year...they are going to hate Snowden because he does not represent a threat to the citizenry at large...He represents a person who might just effect their positions and their very nice income...People who do well and have sold their souls to the system HATE Snowden...to the average person he is a Robin Hood...It's not about morality or leaking of secrets - it all gets down to damned money--In order to get money out of the population you have present yourself as a good and honest person..>Snowden showed that they are NOT as good as they would have us believe.

I'm not rich or elite but the difference between a whistle blower and a coward is the former is willing to accept judgement for his crimes.

Nothing that you said has anything to do with the thread. Class is not that important in the US but maybe it is in Canada. Your allegation smacks of foreign smugness.

And he has no passport to travel on a commercial plane. There is no way to get from there to there without flying through the airspace of other nations. And there probably is no craft that can fly that distance without refueling. And you can bet American agents are crawling every inch of the Moscow airport keeping an eye out for him. So the only way he gets out is to try and sneak out either on a private plane or in the cargo hold of a commercial plane. Long way to fly inside a box.
Well, if tons of cocaine can get into a country, a person who can walk on his own can surely leave a country.

But on the idea that a foreign nation granting Snowden asylum is unusual is not correct. The U.S. grants lots of people asylum whose native country is persecuting them for voicing political opinions. Snowden is being persecuted by the U.S. for blowing the whistle on spying on U.S. citizens and allied nations. As such, the U.S. is trying to imprison him. There is nothing wrong with a nation that disagrees with that policy to granting Snowden asylum.
